The future of flexo associations and the future of flexo technologies. A virtuous synergy in support of flexo printers.

EFTA Benelux, the flexo technical association for The Netherlands and Belgium, and FTA EUROPE, the newly established European umbrella organization for Flexo, are pleased to invite visitors of Labelexpo Europe (29 September – 2 October, Brussels Expo) for a mini-symposium to be held on Wednesday 30 September 2015. The first edition in this FTA Europe series took place at the occasion of Converflex in Milan last May.

The meeting will address the future of flexo: which activities will national and European associations foresee to support this industry and which goals will be set in order to promote their members activities?

Sam Grimley, Senior Brand Partner at Blippar, will illustrate how augmented reality applications can enhance the value of flexo print interface between products and consumers using the mobile phone. During the mini symposium, he will explain how this virtual dimension provides new opportunities for printers in the narrow-web flexo market: “Augmented reality offers brands the opportunity to engage with their consumers for longer. They enable them to attract, retain and engage with the product through an immersive experience. Connecting the product with the consumer through an app, Blippar becomes the lens through which the real world can be spontaneously ‘unlocked’ and converted into content-rich, interactive experiences.”

Following Sam Grimley’s presentation Chris Stowe, Product Manager 3D tools at Esko, will demonstrate live how AR technology supports the review and approval process of the packaging and label production workflow.  Hyperrealistic 3D virtual mockups of all kinds of packaging can be visualized long before the ink hits the substrate, also on mobile devices. A perfect and practical use case of how AR technology drives efficiency and time to market improvements in the packaging value chain.

The EFTA-Benelux/FTA Europe mini symposium will be held at:
